Let's build a better world together.

ABOUT ERIC

Hi! I’m Eric Sanders, an LA-based educator and technologist focusing on increasing accessibility through universal design, ethical digital media, and fairer educational, hiring, and work practices.

To create a better world for students, I’ve designed STEAM curricula and multidisciplinary programs at The Collegiate School, one of the top private schools in New York City (where I also helped lead the IT Department), produced and presented on education, technology, and media literacy at conferences from TEDxNYED to Left Forum at CUNY, and designed user experiences and products at 4 successful tech companies (including Indeed.com) that helped millions of people get jobs.

Here are some of my career highlights:

  • Built the assessments system at Indeed Assessments where I led a multidisciplinary team of 20+ PhD. I/O psychologists, social psychologists, and instructional designers to design the largest job assessments product in the world with 1+ billion taken / year.

  • Led an accessibility remediation effort (working closely with the Legal department) to bring Indeed Assessments up to ADA standards and A11y best practices, allowing 10+ million people to fairly participate.

  • Founded the STEAM program at The Collegiate School in New York City, where I partnered with Math, Science, English, Art, Library, and IT to design multidisciplinary curricula in computer science, robotics, and logic.

  • Co-founded the TEDxNYED Conference in New York City, the first educational TED conference in New York, featuring talks from Lawrence Lessig (Harvard Law School) and Henry Jenkins (USC Annenberg).

  • Presented at Left Forum at CUNY in New York City on the history of democracy and voting methods, alongside Dr. Steven Brams from NYU and Dr. Jack Nagel from UPenn.

  • Designed products to help people get jobs—assessments, candidate profiles, interview tools—for 3 successful tech startups (Interviewed, Cluster, and Laskie). Interviewed was acquired by Indeed in 2017 for an undisclosed amount.

  • Served on the board and grew The Center for Election Science, the pre-eminent organization in the US studying and advocating for more participatory political systems.

  • Co-founded and produced the iTunes top-15 podcast “Think Again” for Big Think, featuring guests from quantum physicist Brian Greene (Columbia) to novelist Salman Rushdie.

  • Wrote, directed, and produced 20+ plays in New York City, and associate-produced 4 Broadway shows that won multiple Tony Awards.

I have 15+ years of experience building stakeholder buy-in for complex, systemic projects and upgrades. I work directly with administration, faculty, staff, students, users, and IT to identify and address their concerns and needs—fostering trust and building community in all my projects.

PHILOSOPHY

I have two children in LA public schools and my mother was a reading specialist, so I am deeply committed to the future of literacy and education.

My passion for universal design stems from my lifelong study of the history of democracy—from political science to better voting systems.

I believe education, free speech, and universal participation are the pillars of democracy, and this motivates me to design better technologies and systems that bring about a more equitable society.
